How do I research keywords for my clients?
The first step in the SEO process is keyword research. Every website owner needs to find the best keywords related to their niche.
I usually do keyword research for service and e-commerce websites. While doing keyword research for service and e-commerce websites, I go to their website and see what services they provide. Then I open an excel sheet and make two columns, the first column is seed keyword and the second column is keywords. In the seed keyword column, I put down their services and their products name. Then in the keywords column, I manually put down some keywords that a potential customer may use these keywords to find those services or products. This may help me to find 10–20 keywords for each seed keyword.
After using the manual way, I use some keyword tools to get more ideas. The tools are-
1. Google keyword planner
2. Ubersuggest
3. Moz Keyword Explorer
So these tools help me to generate 100 to 300 keyword ideas. Then it comes to deciding which keywords you finalize for your client’s website. I give more priority to the following four factors while deciding the final keywords-
1. Search volume
2. Rank position
3. Long tail keywords
4. Keyword difficulty
The first three factors are very important for service and e-commerce websites and keyword difficulty is necessary for blog or affiliate websites.
Finally following these factors, I provide 10,25, and 50 best keywords that have the most possible chance to rank the website.
This is my sample work.
